Abstract
The Oxford Scanning Proton microprobe has been used for the determinat ion of major and trace element concentrations at the single particle l evel in fly ashes collected at the inlet and outlet of the electrostat ic precipitators of a coal-fired power plant. The analytical results p rovide valuable information about the particle formation mechanisms up on combustion, the fly ash collection process within electrostatic pre cipitators and the environmental impact associated with the emission o f particulate matter.
