Jf. Shriner et al., A COMPTON-SUPPRESSED SPECTROMETER FOR STUDIES OF CHAOS IN NUCLEI, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 99(1-4), 1995, pp. 641-644
One approach to studying chaos in quantum systems utilizes the statist
ical behavior of eigenvalues. Such analyses require data of very high
quality, since both completeness and purity are essential. The design
of a Compton-suppressed gamma-ray spectrometer for the purpose of esta
blishing a nearly complete level scheme in P-30 via the Si-29(p, gamma
) reaction is described. Design criteria and implementation are discus
sed, and early results from the system are presented.
