Abstract
A DC electrostatic quadrupole (ESQ) accelerator is capable of producin g a 2.5 MeV, 100 mA proton beam for the purpose of generating epitherm al neutrons for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy. The ESQ accelerator has a strong transverse held for beam focusing and for suppressing second ary electrons and is therefore suitable for high current use, The ESQ physics is well understood and the remaining challenge ahead is in dev eloping the proper power supply system.
