Abstract
These clinical guidelines, which have been reviewed and approved by th e Board of Directors of the American Sleep Disorders Association (ASDA ), provide recommendations for the practice of sleep medicine in North America with regards to the use of oral appliances for the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Oral appliances have been deve loped for the treatment of snoring and have been applied to the treatm ent of obstructive sleep apnea, a syndrome associated with morbidity. Based on a review of the relevant scientific literature, the Standards of Practice Committee of the ASDA has developed guidelines describing the use of oral appliances for the treatment of snoring and obstructi ve sleep apnea in adults.
