The straightforward spectral-signal processing technique is applied in intrinsic strain, temperature and distributed linear position interfe rometric fiber optic sensors based on birefringent polarization mainta ining fibers, The method provides nonincremental absolute measurements of external physical parameter affecting the sensing fiber, Simultane ous interrogation of sensors in a network is demonstrated.
