Abstract
A comparative study of the structure of PAN samples prepared by anioni c and radical polymerization was performed using IR spectroscopy. All the polymers prepared with anionic systems contained segments with a m ore planar structure. The polymers obtained in nonpolar medium in the presence of organometallic initiators had many imperfections, whose ap pearance depended on the polymerization conditions. PAN samples prepar ed in DMF had a more regular chemical structure, as observed spectrosc opically.
