This study deals with pyrolysis of the binary mixtures of hexachlorocy
clopentadiene with polyethylene and various ethylene copolymers. The p
rocesses of dehydrochlorination and carbonization, which involve up to
five chlorines of hexachlorocyclopentadiene, proceed intensively unde
r relatively mild conditions. Using IR spectroscopy, gas chromatograph
y, thermogravimetry, and alkalimetric titration, it was shown that HCl
and carbonized products are formed in reactions both of hexachlorocyc
lopentadiene and intermediate products of its interaction with the pol
ymers.
