Abstract
Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) is a relatively new techniqu e developed for providing enteral nutritional support to paediatric an d adult patients. In a preliminary study PEG was evaluated in six high risk paediatric patients (age range 1 yr - 15 yrs; mean 8.5 yrs), Dia gnosis included cystic fibrosis (5 patients) and mental handicap (1 pa tient), The procedure was successfully performed in all patients, Ther e were no procedure related complications recorded, The technique is s imple to perform, can be performed with minimal morbidity and has subs tantial patient benefits.
