Aa. Girgis et al., MEASUREMENT AND PREDICTION OF VOLTAGE FLICKER MAGNITUDE AND FREQUENCY, IEEE transactions on power delivery, 10(3), 1995, pp. 1600-1605
Voltage nicker refers to a slow-0.5 to 30 Hz--modulation of the voltag
e magnitude. This periodic fluctuation can be modelled as an amplitude
modulated signal, where the fundamental power Frequency represents th
e carrier signal and the voltage flicker represents the modulating sig
nal. An algorithm based on this premise is developed to estimate the i
nstantaneous magnitude and frequency of the voltage flicker. The algor
ithm, which is based on Kalman filter estimation, can also be used to
predict the instantaneous nicker level.
