S. Rohr et al., TONOMETRIC SUPERVISION OF VIABILITY IN FR EE JEJUNUM AND STOMACH TRANSPLANTS AFTER TOTAL CIRCULAR PHARYNGO-LARYNGECTOMY, Journal de chirurgie, 133(8), 1996, pp. 389-391
A prospective study concerning the tonometric viability supervision of
9 digestive free autografts after total pharyngolaryngectomy was cond
ucted. This technic is based on the Henderson and Hasselbalch's equati
on wich calculates the intramucosal pH (pHi) in the graft using a tono
metric catheter. When the pHi is under 7.10, there is a graft ischemia
. This invasive technique seems to be sensitive and specific provided
that minimally rigorous measurement procedures ai-e used. Late graft n
ecrosis is the major limitation of the technique.
