Abstract
The crystal structure of the title compound, C35H62N2O11 . 2 H2O, has been determined at room temperature by X-ray diffraction. The colorles s crystals are monoclinic, space group C2, with unit cell dimensions a = 16.407(8) Angstrom, b = 11.679(6) Angstrom, c = 22.710(11) Angstrom , beta = 102.63(3)degrees, Z = 4, D-c = 1.140, D-m = 1.131 Mg m(-3). T he structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix l east-squares procedure to final R = 0.058 using 3351 reflections. The conformation of the oleandomycin molecule is influenced by the sp(2)-h ybridization at the C8 carbon atom as well as by intra- and intermolec ular hydrogen bonds. All oleandomycin-hydroxyl groups and both water m olecules participate in the hydrogen-bonds formation.
