The hard phase in the C-60-samples obtained after heating to 670-770 K
under high pressure 9.5 GPa was examined by transmission electron mic
roscopy. We have found that the samples exhibit an unusual structure.
Diffraction patterns from this structure show the diffuse are reflecti
ons as well as disordered carbon structures, but with a regular arrang
ement in reciprocal space. The diffraction pattern remains through lar
ge regions of the samples, and the connection of the twin type is obse
rved for the platelet structure in the samples. Possible variants of t
he new structure are considered.
