Abstract
Within the framework of the U-sdpf(16) interacting boson model, the ef fects of the octupole degree of freedom p- and f-bosons on the positiv e-parity states of even-even nuclei in rotational regions are discusse d. It is shown that configurations of an even number of p- and f-boson s can not only be incorporated into the usual ground state band, beta- , gamma-vibrational bands, but also naturally form the K-pi = 1(+), 3( +) rotation bands, etc.. This result is similar to that of the U-sdg(1 5)-IBM, The result is consistent with that of U-sd(6)-IBM. E2 transiti on probabilities are discussed briefly.
