Based on the calculation of lattice dynamic properties and observation
of first-order Raman spectra for the Zn-Se localized microscopic inte
rface mode of the (CdSe)(4)/(ZnTe)(4) superlattice, multiphonon (MP) R
aman scattering of up to five orders has been observed. The linewidth
variation with MP order and temperature as well as the frequency and i
ntensity behavior with MP order can be interpreted by the anharmonic d
ecay of the localized mode into extended band modes. These results sho
w the defect like nature of interfaces in AB/CD-type superlattices.
