R. Cauble et al., HIGH-DENSITY PLASMA DIAGNOSTICS UTILIZING A NEON-LIKE YTTRIUM X-RAY LASER, Journal of quantitative spectroscopy & radiative transfer, 54(1-2), 1995, pp. 97-103
A neon-like yttrium laboratory x-ray laser (XRL) at 155 Angstrom has b
een used to perform radiography, Moire deflectometry and interferometr
y of plasmas created in various laser-initiated experiments. A system
consisting of the XRL, multilayer mirrors, and multilayer beam splitte
rs was assembled to obtain high resolution images of the plasmas. Work
is continuing to improve the XRL-higher brightness, shorter pulse len
gth, and enhanced coherence-through a program of simulations and exper
iments.
