Av. Demura et al., COMPARATIVE-STUDY OF MICROFIELD NONUNIFORMITY IN PLASMAS, Journal of quantitative spectroscopy & radiative transfer, 54(1-2), 1995, pp. 123-136
Recent general theoretical approaches to the problem of the microfield
nonuniformity in plasmas are summarized in the context of their appli
cations to the emission or absorption shape of the spectral lines aris
ing from atoms immersed in a plasma. The calculations of the microfiel
d distribution function and the universal functions, which define the
constraint moments of the components of the nonuniformity microfield t
enser, are performed for various plasma conditions. The results obtain
ed on the basis of the generalized Baranger-Mozer cluster expansion sc
heme, the generalized Adjustable Parameter Exponential Approximation a
nd Monte Carlo simulations are compared. This study provides the groun
dwork for improved calculations of the line profile that account for p
lasma microfield nonuniformity.
