Ak. Patra et al., EFFECT OF VARIETY, POTASSIUM AND PLANTING METHOD ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF RAINY-SEASON GROUNDNUT (ARACHIS-HYPOGAEA), Indian Journal of Agronomy, 41(3), 1996, pp. 433-437
A field experiment was conducted during the rainy season (kharif) of 1
992 and 1993 at Kalyani, to study the effect of potassium application
and planting method on groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) 'JL 24 groundnu
t was found sperior to 'ICGV 86015'. Application of 50 kg K2O/ha signi
ficantly increased growth attributes (plant height, leaf-area index an
d dry-matter production) and pod and oil yields. Planting in flat bed
with carthing up (FEE) at 25 days after sowing showed better response
than planting in flat bed without earthing up (FB) and broad-bed and f
urrow method (BBF). Increase in pod and oil yield by 7.6 and 7.1% resp
ectively were recorded by planting in the FBE over planting in the FB.
