P. Balasubramaniyan, INFLUENCE OF PLANT-POPULATION AND NITROGEN ON YIELD AND NUTRIENT RESPONSE OF SESAME (SESAMUM-INDICUM), Indian Journal of Agronomy, 41(3), 1996, pp. 448-450
A field experiment was conducted during the summer season of 1992 and
1993 on sandy-loam soil to find out the effect of varieties ('TMV 3' a
nd pre-release culture 'VS 350'), plant population (3 0, 4.5 and 6.0 x
10(5)/ha) and N levels (0, 30, 60 and 90 kg/ha) on growth, Yield and
N response of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.). Pre-release culture 'VS 350
' yielded more (711 kg/ha) than variety TMV 3 (636 kg/ha). Besides, th
e former matured earlier 10-12 days. Plant population tested did not r
esult in any significant yield difference. On an average, significant
response to N application was noticed up to 30 kg N/ha.
