Anodic oxidation of yridine)bis(4-bromo-2,6-dichlorophenoxo)copper(II)
complex leads mainly to linear poly(2,6-dichlorophenylene oxide) unde
r constant-potential electrolysis in the dimethylformamide-tetrabutyla
mmonium tetrafluoroborate solvent-electrolyte couple at room temperatu
re under air or nitrogen. Polymerization conditions were based on the
peak potentials measured by cyclic voltammetry. Characterization of th
e polymer was performed by C-13 and H-1 nuclear magnetic resonance, Fo
urier-transform infra-red spectroscopy, differential scanning calorime
try, molecular-weight and dipole moment measurements.
