STRESS MANAGEMENT FOR PSYCHIATRIC-PATIENTS IN A STATE-HOSPITAL SETTING

A stress mangement protocol was adapted for use with schizophrenia pat ients. Elements included short group sessions, reinforcement of stress reduction skills, modified breathing and relaxation exercises, and ca pillary blood-flow monitoring for quick feedback. The patients demonst rated ability to participate in the group and to learn certain stress management techniques adapted to their particular needs.
