Abstract
We have investigated the kinetic energy distribution of pi(-)p atoms i n liquid hydrogen by measuring the Doppler broadening of neutron time- of-flight spectra from the reaction pi(-)p --> pi(0)n. The existence o f ''high energy'' (>>1 eV) components, containing about half of the pi (-)p atoms, is confirmed and evidence for discrete peaks with energies up to similar or equal to 200 eV is found.
