Z. Veress et M. Csuros, METHODS OF EVALUATION, IDENTIFICATION AND DESCRIPTION OF VARIETIES, AND RELATED COMPUTERIZED SYSTEMS, Novenytermeles, 45(4), 1996, pp. 409-416
One of the most important topics of the National Institute for Agricul
tural Quality Control (Orszagos Mezogazdasagi Minosito Intezet, OMMI)
is the evaluation and description of plant varieties. The so-called DU
S testing consists of tests connected with the distinctness (D), unifo
rmity (U) and stability (S) of the varieties. Different methods are de
veloped by experts from UPOV according to the reproduction types of pl
ants or to the types of data. This paper gives a general outlook on th
e methods applied in variety identification and description, both gene
rally and in the Hungarian. Two computerized systems are presented: 1.
DUS-evaluating and decision support system, 2. Variety information sy
stem. As the result of DUS testing variety descriptions are compiled,
with the aid of which the testing of the most similar variety or group
s of similar varieties can be carried out.
