Ck. Stone et al., FURTHER EVIDENCE OF A DOSE-RESPONSE THRESHOLD FOR HALOPERIDOL IN PSYCHOSIS, The American journal of psychiatry, 152(8), 1995, pp. 1210-1212
Objective: The authors' goal was to determine whether higher doses of
haloperidol improve antipsychotic response. Method: During a 2-week, d
ouble-blind, randomized fixed-dose study, 24 psychotic patients were g
iven 4, 10, or 40 mg/day of haloperidol. Results: No clinically releva
nt difference between groups in favor of the higher antipsychotic dose
s could be detected. Conclusions: Doses of 4 mg/day of haloperidol app
ear to be as effective as higher doses in the treatment of psychosis.
