Abstract
The authors reviewed 14 potential risk factors associated with blood l oss in each of 70 liver transplant patients. Although on a statistical basis age correlated as a predictor of intraoperative blood loss, thi s association was not strong enough to be of clinical value. The autho rs were unable to predict which patients will have greater intraoperat ive blood loss. Preparation for massive transfusion should be used for all patients undergoing liver transplantation.
