Abstract
The association between duodenal atresia and intestinal malrotation ha s been recognised for many years. We discuss the hypothesis that embry onic bands crossing the developing duodenum can cause enough compressi on to create an atresia or stenosis. We support this hypothesis with t he operative findings of all the duodenal atresias treated at our inst itution over a 15-year-period.
