Insufficiency fractures are increasingly seen among postmenopausal wom
en. Sacral fractures are difficult to detect clinically and radiograph
ically, while os pubis fractures may mimic malignancy. Diagnosis is ma
de by bone scintigraphy, supplemented by computed tomography. As patie
nts respond well to conservative management, increased awareness and u
se of appropriate imaging may avoid unnecessary and invasive investiga
tions.
