Bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV)/zirconium(IV) comolexes, [(Cp(2)MCl)
(2)L]Cl-2 and [(Cp(2)M)(2)L']Cl-2 (where M = Ti or zr: L = Schiff base
s derived from 1,4-dihydrazinophthalazine and benzaldehyde, 4-methoxyb
enzaldehyde, 2-chlorobenzaldehyde or acetophenone; L'H-2 = Schiff base
s derived from 1,4-dihydrazinophthalazine and salicylaldehyde or ($) u
nder bar o-hydroxyacetophenone) have been synthesized. All derivatives
were characterized by elemental analyses, electrical conductance, mag
netic moment and spectral (electronic, IRI H-1 NMR) data. H-1 NMR spec
tra of these complexes indicate that there is rapid rotation of the cy
clopentadienyl ring about the metal ring axis. The probable structures
of the complexes are proposed.
