Based on the classical laminated plate theory, a finite composite plat
e weakened by an elliptical hole is treated as an anisotropic multiple
connected plate. Using the complex potential method in the plane theo
ry of elasticity of an anisotropic body, an analytical solution concer
ned with the stress concentration around an elliptical hole in a finit
e composite laminated plate is obtained with the help of Fabor series
expansion and the least squares boundary collocation technique. The ef
fects of hole sizes, layups and loading conditions on the stress distr
ibution are studied in detail. Some conclusions are drawn.
