Abstract
A convenient synthesis of 3-spiro-fused benzofuran-2(3H)-ones via pall adium-catalyzed chemoselective carbonylation of vinyl triflates in the presence of omicron-iodophenols, followed by regioselective intra-mol ecular Heck reaction, is described.
