M. Burke et P. Noller, CONTENT-ANALYSIS OF CHANGES IN SELF-CONSTRUING DURING A CAREER TRANSITION, Journal of constructivist psychology, 8(3), 1995, pp. 213-226
We examined the process of career transition for a group of teacher tr
ainees in the 2-year Technical and Further Education leacher preparati
on program. Content analysis was used to determine the extent of any s
ignificant change in construct use oner time, to illustrate the nature
of that change, and to examine the literal similarity of constructs o
ver the study period. Results showed there was a change in construct u
se over time. The literal similarity of the constructs as determined b
y the content analysis supported the operational similarity of the con
structs revealed by a cluster analytic technique in an earlier study.
Categories of forcefulness, organization, status, self-sufficiency, an
d time orientation were identified as important, indicating an emphasi
s on personal and professional development.
