Abstract
The formation of perithecia of Cylindrocladium scoparium, the causal a gent of a stem rot on Rhododendron spec. and Erica spec., was observed in crossings of sexually compatible strains on azalea-leaf-agar. The fungus appears to have two mating types which exhibit a bipolar hetero thallic system.
