Abstract
Repeat examinations in a de novo patient with Wilson disease revealed an expansion of decreased signal intensities in the basal ganglia on T 2-weighted imaging after initiation of copper trapping therapy. Since marked clinical improvement was associated with continued urinary copp er excretion, iron depositioning in exchange for copper might explain these findings.
