Abstract
An overview of the Department of Defense research and development acti vities in superconductivity is presented. Efforts exist in the Navy, A ir Force, ARPA, BMDO and NSA. Highlights of activities in each of thes e organizations will be discussed. In general, the DOD efforts in supe rconductivity are in the electronics areas with major programs in spac e applications, digital electronics, millimeter, microwave and tera-he rtz applications, antenna, and sensors (magnetic, i.r., high frequency ). Significant efforts also. exist in power applications as they speci fically relate to ship propulsion and aircraft power generation.
