Abstract
The protonation equilibrium constants of N-substituted 4-amino-phenyla zo pyridine have been potentiometrically measured in 50% v/v water eth anol and spectrophotometrically in water. Two series of protonation co nstants pK(1) and pK(2), relative to an azonium and pyridinium form, h ave been determined. The pK values have been correlated with the induc tive effects of the amino substituents.
