Abstract
The authors demonstrate an optical injection technique for stabilising the frequency and reducing the phase noise of the millimetre-wave sig nal generated by a passively modelocked monolithic DBR laser. The opti cal injection signal is obtained by externally modulating a CW laser u sing the double sideband suppressed carrier (DSBSC) modulation techniq ue. A locking range of 170MHz is achieved with an injection optical po wer of less than 50 mu W.
