The results of field experiments devoted to the mapping of parameters
of acoustic signals reflected from the ocean bottom are presented. A t
wo-stage procedure of filtering the reflected field, revealing its int
ermediate-scale spatial variation, is proposed. The advantages of a pl
anar multielement antenna array over a single receiver are noted. Reco
mmendations on the bottom-mapping technique are given. The main techni
cal characteristics of the attendant equipment are presented.
