R. Scotti et al., RELIABILITY OF ANTAGONISTIC ARCH IMPRESSION IN DENTAL PROSTHESES - CLINICAL-EVALUATION OF DIFFERENT PREIMPRESSION PREPARATION PROCEDURES, The Journal of prosthetic dentistry, 74(2), 1995, pp. 127-132
This study compared the influence of different methods of preimpressio
n preparation on the quality of occlusal reproduction in irreversible
hydrocolloid impressions. A total of 30 impressions of the lower denta
l arch of a patient were made with five different preimpression prepar
ation procedures. Stone casts were made and analyzed. Critical compari
son showed that the preimpression preparation influenced the quality o
f the occlusal surface of the cast, Fingerpainting the occlusal surfac
e with fluid hydrocolloid before positioning the loaded impression tra
y, associated with use of a saliva ejector, reduced the incidence of m
acroscopic defects on the occlusal surface of the impressions.
