A method for static mechanical tensile testing of small-section shapes
using full-scale specimens is described. Mechanical properties of rol
led material as determined by this method agree, although slightly ove
restimated, with those obtained by the standard method. A plausible ex
planation is that the use of full-scale (semifull-scale) specimens mak
es allowance for the nonuniformity of metal properties in the shapes t
ested. The method proposed considerably facilitates and abbreviates th
e preparation of test specimens.
