We consider the problem of attitude stabilization of an axisymmetric s
pacecraft using two pairs of gas jet actuators. These actuators provid
e control torques about two axes spanning the two-dimensional plane or
thogonal to the axis of symmetry. Using a new kinematic formulation, w
e derive a stabilizing control law that achieves arbitrary reorientati
on of the spacecraft under the assumption that the initial spin rate a
bout the symmetry axis is zero.
