A study has been made of hydrodynamic parameters of gelatin macromolec
ules that predetermine its behavior in aqueous solutions near the gela
tion threshold and also of structurization effects in aqueous solution
s of gelatin. and pseudocyanine dye for a number of samples of inert g
elatin belonging to various configuration. types. Relationships have b
een elucidated of changes in hydrodynamic parameters of gelatin and sp
ectral characteristics of aggregates of dye molecules [the dye is the
pyridinium salt of propyl)-5,5'-diphenyl-9-ethoxycarbocyaninebetaine]
near the sol-gel transition point in gelatin solutions, on the solutio
n-quartz phase boundary, and in photographic emulsions with planar AgH
al crystals.
