A study has been made of hydrogenation of 3-methyl-4-amino-5-nitroso-2
,6-dioxypyrimidine into 3-methyl-4,5-diamino-2,6-dioxypyrimidine and f
ormylation of the Latter with formic acid. The optimal reaction condit
ions have been found, which ensure a yield of 3-methyl-4-amino-5-formy
lamino-2,6-dioxypyrimidine as high as 96%.
