There is now little doubt that laparoscopic procedures, in particular
cholecystectomy, have revolutionized intraabdominal surgery. This fact
is in part due to the use of small incisions, which produce less woun
d pain and result in a speedier postoperative recovery. However, there
have been several reports of wound complications after such operation
s and, in particular, of the occurrence of hernias at port sites(1-3).
A simple and effective way of closing the fascial defect of a port si
te under laparoscopic visual control is reported.
