Jh. Hsiao et al., HIGH-THROUGHPUT CORDIC-BASED SYSTOLIC ARRAY DESIGN FOR THE DISCRETE COSINE TRANSFORM, IEEE transactions on circuits and systems for video technology, 5(3), 1995, pp. 218-225
In this paper, we propose a modified fast algorithm for Discrete Cosin
e Transform (DCT) by transferring the results from the Discrete Hartle
y Transform (DHT) to one additional CORDIC computing stage. A fast COR
DIC-based systolic array is designed with four derived attractive feat
ures, including: 1) the single/double data folding feature; 2) the con
structive feature; 3) the co-computing feature; and 4) the redundant c
omputation. Due to its properties, the proposed design has efficient h
ardware utilization and high throughput rate. By using redundant path,
this design also has the capability of error detection.
