Abstract
A novel flow injection spectrophotometric catalytic method is develope d for the determination of permanganate. The method is based on the ca talysis by permanganate of the periodate oxidation of the 1,10-phenant hroline-iron(II) complex in the presence of perchloric acid. The calib ration graph is linear over the range 0.05-0.4 mu g ml(-1), with a mid -range rsd of 2% (n = 10). The detection limit and sample throughput a re 2.5 ng of Mn(VII) in 75 mu l and 110 h(-1), respectively. Only Ru(I II) interferes and can be removed by incorporation of a cation exchang e minicolumn within the manifold. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
