Abstract
The axial compressional behavior of ultra-high molecular weight polyet hylene (UHMW-PE) film is studied by means of polarizing optical micros copy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction in this paper , The results show that a lot of kink bands are formed at about 75 deg rees and 90 degrees. It is suggested that (110)[001] and (100)[001] cr ystallographic slips play the dominant role in the formation of the 75 degrees kink bands and 90 degrees kink bands.
