The influence of the deposition potential on both electrogeneration an
d electrochemical behaviour of polyfuran-perchlorate-doped films in ac
etonitrile has been analysed. Yellow insulating deposits were obtained
at 1.7 and 1.9 V, while adherent black films were formed at 2.1 and 2
.3 V. From the cyclic voltammetry of black polyfuran films, both the m
echanism of the redox process and the increase of the films' electroac
tivity with cycling have been established, these characteristics being
very useful for technological applications. Scanning electron microgr
aphs reveal an ordered structure in black polyfuran films.
