Ms. Krakov et S. Kamiyama, STEADY FLOW PAST A CIRCULAR-CYLINDER COATED WITH MAGNETIC FLUID - FLOW STRUCTURE, DRAG REDUCTION AND COATING DEFORMATION, Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 295, 1995, pp. 1-22
The present study deals with the influence of a magnetic-fluid coating
, held onto a circular cylinder surface by a magnetic field, on the vi
scous fluid flow structure round the cylinder in the Reynolds number r
ange of 1-100. The influence of the coating thickness, magnetic fluid
viscosity, and Reynolds number on flow separation and drag reduction i
s determined. The interface shape of the magnetic fluid coating and it
s behaviour, depending on the flow parameters, are also established.
