Abstract
The present study deals with the influence of a magnetic-fluid coating , held onto a circular cylinder surface by a magnetic field, on the vi scous fluid flow structure round the cylinder in the Reynolds number r ange of 1-100. The influence of the coating thickness, magnetic fluid viscosity, and Reynolds number on flow separation and drag reduction i s determined. The interface shape of the magnetic fluid coating and it s behaviour, depending on the flow parameters, are also established.
