GENETIC-POLYMORPHISM OF ADA IN TAIWAN ABORIGINAL POPULATIONS - NEW ADA VARIANTS DETECTED BY ISOELECTRIC-FOCUSING METHOD

ADA subtype polymorphism in nine aboriginal populations (Gaoshan) of T aiwan was studied by means of the IEF method. A new ADA variant allele , ADATaiwan1, was in a high allele frequency in two Gaoshan populatio ns, the Amis and the Paiwans. Another new variant, ADATaiwan2, was fo und in only one case of heterozygote in the Saisiats. Allele frequenci es of a common allele, ADA2, in the Paiwans and the Amis were the hig hest among the Asian populations so far studied.
