Abstract
In the solid state, the picrate of tris(pyrazol-1-yl)1,3,5-triazine (T PT) containing water and chloroform, exists as an oxonium picrate solv ated by TPT and chloroform, H3O+.C6H2N3O7-.C12H9N9.CHCl3. The compound shows the shortest H3O+... O- distance ever reported. All H atoms of the oxonium cation are involved in strong hydrogen bonds joining the T PT molecule and the picrate anion. The TPT molecule mimics the crown e thers in stabilizing the H3O+ cation.
