Abstract
The oxy structure (C10H8N2O) adopts a skew conformation with the skew angle 69.9 (4)degrees; the angle at the O atom is 120.3 (3)degrees and the O-C distances are 1.378 (6) and 1.395 (6) Angstrom. The seleno st ructure (C10H8N2Se) adopts a twist conformation with the twist angle 5 2.5 (3)degrees; the angle at the Se atom is 101.9 (2)degrees and the S e-C distances are 1.920 (4) and 1.940 (4) Angstrom.
